The Milano city is the capital of Milano province and of the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. It is the leading financial centre and the most prosperous manufacturing and commercial city of Italy. Additionally, Milano is a world centre of architecture and design specifically.  Therefore, a number of small, high-quality businesses specialize in furniture design, graphic design, clothing design and many other areas.

In spite of this, Milano is the seat of certain well known and highly ranked universities in Europe, including Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Politecnico di Milano, and Istituto Marangoni school of fashion, art and design.

Politecnico di Milano is one of the most outstanding technical universities in Europe. Established 1863, it is the largest school of architecture, design and engineering in Italy with three main campuses located in Milano, the heart of fashion and design industries and five more premises around the Lombardy region. Strategic research is carried out mainly in the fields of energy, transport, planning, management, design, mathematics and natural and applied sciences, ICT, built environment, cultural heritage, with more than 130 laboratories, among these also a Wind Tunnel and a Crash Test centre. An interesting fact about this university is that many important scientists and architects studied and taught here, among them Achille Castiglioni, Gio Ponti, Renzo Piano and Aldo Rossi, both Pritzker Price in 1990 and 1998 respectively, and Giulio Natta, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1963.

The Istituto Marangoni founded in Milan in 1935 by the tailor Giulio Marangoni is a private Italian school of fashion, art and design. Istituto Marangoni has never stopped believing in the value of training, constantly updating its programs to ensure they are in line with Italian and international market needs. In the past few years, Istituto Marangoni has opened four new schools: London in 2003, Paris in 2006, Shanghai in 2013, and Milano Design in 2014, and Florence in 2016.

The teaching spaces of Istituto Marangoni have tested the talents of four generations of professionals, hailing from 106 different countries and representing the heritage of our school. Today Istituto Marangoni continues to successfully ‘teach fashion’, as its founder wished. It also teaches design, which has many contact points and overlaps with the world of fashion: colour, materials and creativity.

Furthermore, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) founded in 1920 is one of the best Roman Catholic schools in Italy and the largest private university in Europe boasting over 41.000 students across 14 Schools.

Milano is home to Cattolica’s largest campus, located in the stunningly beautiful medieval building in the heart of the city. By living and studying in Milano with its constant flow of international businesses and investments UCSC students are ideally positioned to put to practice the knowledge gained in their studies whilst using their own language abilities and cultural competencies. UCSC is distinguished in interdisciplinary approach and wide range of services tailored to meet international students’ needs. Aside from 190 Italian programs, UCSC offer Undergraduate, Graduate, Summer and Semester programs in English, with a focus on economics, business, management, political sciences, medicine and agriculture. UCSC offers wide scholarship opportunities to international students.

Therefore, studying at USCS is to study at a University where the wealth of academic programs and the robustness of academic standards are matched by the grandeur of our buildings and equally impressive locations.

The Educational Advising Center – Skopje as an official representative for the region, have visited Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Politecnico di Milano, and the Istituto Marangoni school of fashion, art and design, in November 2017.

It was a very positive and pleasant experience, due to the fact that all of these three highly ranked universities are really friendly and multicultural institutions, suitable for international students from all over the world.

For any further information, do not hesitate to contact and visit the office of Educational Advising Center EAC – Skopje.
